A 10-year-old school boy from Tachin Abad area of Şino (Oshnaviyeh) has committed suicide after his school officials forced his poor parents to make compulsory donations to his school, a reliable source in Şino said on 25 October.
Despite being against the law, school officials had asked the children’s parents to donate to his school a few days ago.
Hawre’s family was not able to pay the donation because they are poor, and that is why according to the source he was humiliated by the school officials .
Because of Hawre’s insistence, his family agreed to donate 5000 Toman / $2 to the school, but Hawre said that was not enough and he would still be humiliated at the school.
On Sunday morning of October 25 , Hawre’s parents gave him 5000 Toman /$2 and left for work.
.
But Hawre did not go to school, he used a piece of rope and hanged himself and committed suicide.
A few hours later, Hawre’s worried mother called a neighbour to ask her if she could check on Hawre and see if he had gone to school.
The neighbour went to their home and saw Hawre’s dead body, hanging from a gas pipe .
Although the Ministry of Education of Iran has always denied forcing parents to make compulsory donations to schools, yet it is still a common practice in many schools across the country.
