The Washington Kurdish Institute extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and the people of South Carolina on the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham.
Throughout his years of public service, Senator Graham was a consistent and outspoken advocate for the Kurdish people. He repeatedly recognized the sacrifices of the Kurdish nation and the Kurdish-led forces in the fight against ISIS and spoke firmly in defense of their security, rights, and dignity. His bipartisan efforts to support America’s Kurdish allies and his willingness to stand against actions that threatened them earned him the respect and gratitude of many Kurds around the world.
We honor Senator Graham’s legacy of friendship toward the Kurdish nation and his commitment to the principles of partnership, freedom, and justice. During this time of mourning, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to his loved ones and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
