On behalf of the Washington Kurdish Institute (WKI), we extend our warmest congratulations to the members, supporters, and leadership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) following the successful 4th Extraordinary Congress. The election of co-chairs Cahit Kirkazak and Sultan Ozcan is a testament to their commitment to fostering positive change in the country during these challenging times.
We acknowledge that the responsibilities embraced as co-chairs come at a critical juncture for the HDP and the broader Kurdish community. The crackdown by the government on those advocating for fundamental rights and democracy underscores the magnitude of the challenges ahead.
The HDP’s historical role in advocating for the rights and freedoms of the Kurdish people is commendable. We are confident that the party will continue to build upon the foundation of unity and cooperation that has been established over the years. The power of unity within the Kurdish community, spanning Kurdistan’s borders, cannot be underestimated. We encourage all parties across Greater Kurdistan to foster collaboration, strengthen bonds, and amplify the collective voice of the Kurds.
In this journey, the WKI stands in solidarity with the HDP. We firmly believe that the values of justice, equality, and human rights will ultimately prevail. The challenges may be daunting, but the new leadership, combined with the resilience of the Kurdish people, will undoubtedly make a significant difference.
