The Kurdistan Free Life Party is a far-left militant group. The faction was founded in 2004 by members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) of Turkey. PJAK aims to establish a vehicle with which to fight the Iranian regime. The group follows similar ideological approaches as their Turkish counterpart, promoting radical feminism, Kurdish autonomy, decentralized governance, and a federal Iran. The PJAK controls the Eastern Kurdish Units, armed divisions that operate primarily in Western Iran and engage in insurgent activities against the Islamic regime. PJAK is designated as a terrorist organization by the US, Iran, and Turkey.
