Full text of the Statement:
In light of the recent acceleration of events in Syria and its impact on the local, regional and international arena, and following the unfolding events and efforts to stop the bloodshed which exacerbated and prolonged the war, which its price has been paid by all components of the Syrian community irrespective of their race or religion. We in the Syrian National Democratic Coalition clarify the following:
First: We support any diplomatic efforts to end this bloody war. We back every move by the sponsoring states dealing with the Syrian case by the Security Council Resolution 2254 to put the peaceful political resolution of the conflict on the right path. We fully support any initiative to resolve the Syrian conflict peacefully; the recent initiative included Moscow Paper and Astana 3 with clear items.
Second: In this statement, we clarify that our pioneering project and political vision has had a significant role in this regard. The pluralistic, democratic and secular vision, which has been taken into consideration and were pivotal while formatting this initiative, is adopted and endorsed by all components of the Syrian society. The vision proposes a set of points to resolve the complexities in Syria. The project fully endorsed the crucial points, which envisages future Syria a free homeland for all its citizens. The agreement around this vision has been clearly demonstrated by the proposition of a roadmap to resolve the Syrian conflict proposed by a paper by the European Union last month.
Third: We turned our project and vision into a reality by taking practical steps toward this end. The Syrian National Democratic Coalition played a vital role in formatting (Astana 2) Paper with other active political and democratic personnel and bodies.
We are part of this country. Thus, we bear the full responsibility toward our people.
We, The Syrian National Democratic Coalition and its affiliated political, civil and military bodies, call on moderate national forces that believe in a peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict politically and militarily. We call on these forces to unite and draft a peaceful political project taking into consideration fighting radicalism and terrorism in all its forms and shapes. This is to be done through the participation of all secular and democratic Syrian forces without any exclusion of any of these national forces. The draft should be legitimized to make it the basis to resume the negotiations to build a pluralistic and democratic Syria based on Geneva 3 agreement.
