After the brutal attacks on eastern Aleppo by the Syrian regime forces, thousands of displaced civilians fled to the Kurdish-controlled neighborhood of Sheikh Maqsoud.
Thousands of civilians crossed to Sheikh Maqsoud fleeing from the intense fighting between Syrian regime forces and Turkey-backed Islamic groups of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC). The People’s Protection Units (YPG) opened a humanitarian corridor to aid the displaced people.
On November 28, The YPG General Command announced that they had received 6000 internally displaced people (IDP) and all have resided in Sheikh Maqsoud north of Aleppo. However, on the same day, the extremist groups relaunched shelling by mortars on Sheikh Maqsoud according to Hawar News Agency.
The Kurdish Red Crescent in Aleppo’s Sheikh Maqsoud district called upon the international community and international aid organisations to provide necessary help for the IDP due to the shortage of medicine and food in Sheikh Maqsoud.
