At least three members of Iraqi Parliament were wounded Wednesday as the emergency sessions erupted into chaos.
MP Ashwaq Jaff told Millet Press that fighting broke out between a number of Kurdish and Shiite State of Law coalition parliamentarians after a member of the latter insulted Kurds and Anfal Martyrs which led to fighting between Kurdish and Shiite lawmakers”.
Ms Jaff said “during the speech of a Kurdish MP at the emergency sessions today, Alia Nusaif, MP from Shiite State of Law coalition, swore at Kurds and Martyrs of Anfal and threw water bottles at the Kurdish lawmakers.
“Its not the first time Nusaif is insulting Kurds, and we insist this time she must be punished for her acts” added Jaff.
Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri agreed to hold an emergency session on Wednesday after a number of MPs staged a sit-in inside the parliament building late Tuesday, calling on Jabouri to hold an emergency session to take control from the three Iraqi presidencies.
