The People’s Protection Units’ (YPG) General Commander-ship notified the supervising side of the joined US-Russian brokered ceasefire that the Opposition forces continued to attack Sheikh Maqsood neighborhood of Aleppo. In this regard, the YPG’s General Commander ship issued the following statement:
“To the respected Special Group for Syrian Ceasefire,
We want to notify you that today March 10, 2016, at 11:00 AM, the armed mercenaries of the Syrian National Coalition (Ahrar al-Sham Movement, the Northern Front, Sultan Murad Brigade, Sultan Fatih Squads, Faqtasim Kama Amert Squads, Nuraldin Zanki Squads, the 13th Brigade, the 1stRegiment, the 116th Squad and Abu Emara Squads) incessantly shelled Sheikh Maqsood. These groups shelled Sheikh Maqsood with mortars and hand-made rockets. As a result, residents incurred huge property losses, one civilian and three of our fighters were martyred, and four civilians and three of our fighters were injured.
As of now, the neighborhood is still under heavy shelling.”
It must be noted this is the third consecutive statement of the YPG since the implementation of the joined US-Russian brokered ceasefire on February 27. In both the first and second statements too, the YPG accused the Turkish-backed Islamist groups of breaking the ceasefire by indiscriminate shelling on residents of Sheikh Maqsood and Afrin Canton.
