Today 3/3/2016, Qubad Talabani the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) officially opened the first phase of Kobane Bridge Project in Sulaymaniyeh city.
In a speech he gave, DPM Talabani remembered the historic resistance of Kobane and said: “Kobane is not only the cradle of resistance and resiliency of Kurds in Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan), but also a symbol the whole Kurdish nation is proud of.”
In another part of his speech, DPM Talabani said: “We are all gathering here to open a project named ‘Kobane’ in Sulaymaiyeh, which implies not only a spiritual unity between Bashur (Iraqi Kurdistan) and Rojava but also indicates the Kurdish people’s resiliency and determination to continue to move forward despite the threats and challenges they are facing.”
DPM Talabani went on: “Kobane people’s resistance has inspired all KRG citizens to strengthen their resolution to protect social peace and public properties. Indeed, we [the KRG] believe that the KRG citizens’ resistance is as praiseworthy as that of Kobane defenders.”
Admitting the KRG was aware of people’s suspicion of oil deals and proceeds, DPM Talabani put emphasis on the KRG’s resoluteness to eradicate all forms of corruption.
