The Arab residents of Maryamin village in Afrin Canton, who have been influenced by the good behavior of Afrin’s Asayish (security office), join it in order to defend their village.
After the liberation of the Maryamin village by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from al-Nusra terrorists, the Asayish opened up a center to maintain the village’s security. Having witnessed the inhumane demeanor of Al-Nusra terrorists on the one hand and the selfless, humanitarian attitude of the Asayish forces on the other hand, a large number of Arab volunteers have swollen the Asayish forces’ ranks.
A youth named Mustafa Ibrahim said that unlike Al-Nusra and Ahrar al-Sham who would loot people’s houses and properties, he had found the Asayish bent on re-establishing security and stability. He went on that before the liberation of Maryamin by the SDF, nobody would dare to get out of their homes after 8:00 pm, but now people feel secure to go out and do whatever they like at any time.
Another Arab villager named Haysam Haj Hussein said that since the liberation of Maryamin by the SDF, the Asayish forces had treated both Arab and Kurdish residents equally. He praised the “Arab-Kurdish brotherhood” message of the Asayish and counted it as the reason for his joining of it. Haj Hussein called upon all the residents of Maryamin to join the Asayish forces in order to keep its security.
Mustafa Dalo, a member of the Asayish Directory, confirmed that the Asayish forces were always on high alert to maintain the security of the area.
