While 42 people were detained in today’s operations in Muş, Van, Şırnak and Siirt, 6 people were remanded in custody by a court decision.
A large group of Turkish soldiers accompanied by special operation units and armoured vehicles launched an operation once again against the “Martyr İsmail and Martyr Ronahi” cemetery of guerrillas, which had been similarly shelled and demolished by soldiers last month. Turkish troops set fire to two tents in the graveyard which is located in Kulan village of Varto district of Muş.
Simultaneously with the attack on the cemetery, Turkish security forces carried out house raids in Varto town centre as well as in the villages of Qeremêş (Karameşe), Gundê Mîra (Çayçatı), Goma Gorgo (Dallıöz) and Reqasa (İçmeler). 14 people were detained in the operation as security forces raided houses by breaking the doors and uttering insulting words against the household.
While the operations continue in the town, the number of the detainees is expected to increase in the coming hours.
Six HDP members who had been detained as a result of simultaneous house raids in Rüstemgedik and Zafer neighbourhoods of Bulanık district of Muş the previous day, have been referred to the courthouse today.
Following their testimonies at the prosecutor’s office, the detainees were referred to court on demand of arrest. All the six HDP members, including co-chair of Rüstemgedik branch, were remanded in custody on alleged grounds of “being member of an organisation”. The six were sent to Muş E Type Closed Prison.
Three politicians including DBP Ercis branch co-chair Şevket Ulugana, city counsellor Mecit Sargut and DTK delegate Salih Ergün were detained in house raids carried out simultaneously in Erciş district of Van last night.
22 people including 4 children were detained in house raids in Conkbayır, Alan and Barış neighbourhoods of Siirt early this morning.
Special operation units carried out simultaneous house raids in Dicle neighbourhood of Şırnak’s Silopi district this morning. Three people have been detained in the operation.
